Meet Our Academic Journal Editors

TESOL Theory and Praxis is a peer-reviewed academic journal, creating a medium for discussion among teachers around the globe on topics related to English language teaching and learning. It hopes to encourage teachers to share their unique perspectives, local and far-reaching research, and create space for reflective experiences with colleagues. Our editorial team is comprised of active teachers in a variety of teaching contexts and locations.

Audrey Smith

Audrey Smith, Ph.D Managing Editor

Audrey Smith has been working internationally as an English teacher and teacher trainer since 2015. Audrey has an MA in Intercultural Studies & TESOL from Wheaton College and a PhD in Intercultural Education from Biola University.

Darius Barbour

Darius Barbour Consulting Editor

Darius Barbour has been working as Administrative Support Services for 2 years with Pinnacle. He lives in Agadir, Morocco with his wife, Amber, and loves language learning, working with technology, and playing soccer. Darius has a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Shippensburg University, and has previously taught English, Math, Science, and Physics.

Melody Seip

Melody Seip Consulting Editor

Melody Seip is an English language teacher currently located in Jordan. She has been teaching adult learners in Jordan since 2018. Prior to that, she taught German in Wisconsin public schools for three years. Melody has her MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from Newcastle University in the UK.

Abigail Swanson

Abigail Swanson Consulting Editor

Abigail J. Swanson writes across all genres, from fiction to academic work. She has an MBA in Digital Marketing from Chadron State College. She is from Nebraska, but has taught English and Business classes in both Iraqi Kurdistan and Morocco.

Matthew Hawkins Consulting Editor

Matthew Hawkins works for Pinnacle Teaching Solutions in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He has been working as a teaching professional there as a part of the Foreign English Teaching program since it was started in 2023. He has an interest in the post-Soviet sphere, and speaks Russian. He has a BS, and a TESOL certificate from Wheaton College Graduate School.
